The California ISO’s draft 2024-2025 Transmission Plan proposes 31 projects costing $4.8 billion to improve grid reliability and support clean energy growth. Most projects focus on handling increased electricity demand and integrating over 50 GW of renewable energy, including solar, wind, geothermal, and storage.
With 28 of the 31 projects needed to strengthen reliability, the plan emphasizes cost-effective upgrades and targets high demand growth areas like the Bay Area, San Jose, and Oakland. Public feedback is due at the end of April, with a board review in May.
