The American Clean Power Association’s latest Clean Power Quarterly Market Report highlights a record-setting Q3 2024, with 10.2 GW of clean energy capacity added. This growth positions 2024 as a historic year for U.S. clean energy, with year-to-date installations reaching 29.6 GW—a significant 86% increase over the same period in 2023. Total U.S. clean power capacity now stands at 294 GW, enough to power 72 million homes.
In Q3 2024, the U.S. added 6.3 GW of utility-scale solar, bringing the year-to-date total to 20 GW, with 41 GW under construction. Energy storage grew by 3.5 GW in Q3, reaching 7.5 GW year-to-date, while developers signed 6.8 GW in power purchase agreements, including solar, storage, and wind projects.
